A few weeks ago I went out bowling with my three younger siblings. I hadn't been bowling in years and it was fun to try it out again. The first item on the agenda: getting some sweet pics of everyone's awesome bowling form.
Carlton nailed it:
Bradley...struggled. No, no. He didn't struggle. He just moved too fast and I couldn't get the timing right to get a good shot of him. Here is attempt #1:
Attempt #2 looked more like Saturday Night Fever:
After many more attempts, I decided to show him what I had in mind.
I told him to hold the pose for a nice long time after the ball was released. The amount of cheesiness he added was totally up to him. His next result:
Not bad, not bad. Of course, he complained that he was concentrating so hard on getting me my picture that it was messing with his form and he wasn't getting any pins down. So I backed away and said I was done getting pictures so he could completely focus. On his next turn, though, I crept up on him and stole this shot before he even knew I was there.
That's a beauty!
After looking at our scores for the first game, though, I think Bradley was right. We were concentrating too much on our glory shots and not enough on knocking down pins.
A 66??? Seriously? Back when I was a regular bowler there was never a question that I'd break 100 every game. In fact, I was more of a 120-130-something bowler. This was truly humbling.
We had two games left to play and I decided my goal for the night would be to improve my score every game. I put the camera away and got down to business.
Game #2:
Hooray! I shot up a good 18 points! Still no strike, though. Good thing game #3 was right around the corner...
I broke 100 AND got a strike on my very last ball of the night! I'm a bowling beast! Although, my right wrist and forearm were killing me. I guess that's what happens when you play once every three years.
The real story of the night, however, was Bradley's 229 on the last game! This was the best game he's ever played and we were glad we all got to be there to witness it. He even got a printout to take home and show to the grandkids one day. Or maybe he plans to scrapbook it? :p
